I can't be gentle with her. I was before... And now she hates me. Even if it's Ocelot's fault... I tried to protect her in the way I thought was best.

But she never asked for my protection. Now... She's way in over her head, and the only way to get her out of it will be to make her see that she's being used.

[ Snake shakes his head lightly. ] There's no gentle way to do that.

It won't be tough. It's the right thing to do.

She's become a killer. I know that doesn't mean anything coming from me... I've killed hundreds of people. But she's not a soldier, she was never meant for this path... And she was so easily manipulated by people out of my past. So much that I couldn't get a word in to her.

If she's not willing to listen to me so that she can be kept safe, she's not meant to be in our world. She's still a kid... She wants to prove herself, but she shouldn't be trying to do that here.

She should prove herself to her own family. Not mine. And not Liquid's.

[Snake obviously has a soft spot for Saft or he had never taken her in. He might claim it won't be tough but Raiden's skeptical. It doesn't really matter though. He knows Snake will pull through no matter what.

He lets go of the older man's shoulder]

I know that.... but there's no use in telling her. She's convinced that I'm her enemy. That I... betrayed her by not spilling my guts out to her.

You betrayed no one. She's been brainwashed by Liquid, Ocelot and FOXHOUND. That's all there is to it. She's young and impressionable and I wish....I wish I could have done more to stop this from happening.

There's nothing any of us can do. [ Snake glares at the ground. ] Kid was too eager to prove herself and became obsessed with the idea that she had to...

She can't stay in our world anymore. She's too volatile, too hard-headed. [ He smirks. ] I'm hard-headed, too, but I'm not half dragon. I do think she's dangerous, especially in her state, and the last time I spoke to her, she wanted two things at once... She wanted me to see her as dangerous, as independent, as strong.. But at the same time, she wanted me to see the opposite of all of those.

It's only a matter of time before she loses it. It was like... seeing the B&Bs again.

Oh God, Snake. I don't want to lose her. Seeing the angry side of her, the dragon within....it's hard to see her become a monster. Damnit! Why did she even have to get involved with FOXHOUND in the first place? Where we not good enough for her? Did she think she had to prove something by doing this? [He sighed.]

The B&Bs.....[He shuddered inwardly.] .....Snake, I....I want to get her back. The real Saft. Not this monster Liquid and Ocelot have in their ranks. They're just using her. Once they use her for whatever purpose that is, they'll discard her like a piece of garbage.

[ He looked at her. ]

There's no getting her back... Not the one we knew... Trauma... doesn't work like that. You know that just as well as I do.

[ Snake frowned. ] FOXHOUND took advantage of her when she was on her own, even if it was brief. Now they've transformed her into a monster, and things will never go back to the way they were.

I can cut her off from FOXHOUND, but... She'll never look at me, or any of us like she used to. She hates me now... It's only a matter of time before she hates you and Sunny, too.

We can't be the family she wanted. We don't have the means to protect her. She'll have to be responsible for her own actions... and she'll have to do it on her own.
