Ya know, toots, I think it's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights! A year is a long enough entr'acte, I mean, goodness, my public must miss me!
And Bats! He must be terribly lonely, sitting by himself in his cave. With the birds. (Where does he get those kids anyway? Think he robs an orphanage? Heck, maybe he grows 'em. That'd be weird)
Point is, you can't keep the clown in the clink forever. Better than you have tried.
