Dairine wants a new weapon, but mun is stubborn

Hey, mun. You know what would make this zombie fight a lot cooler?

A lightsaber.

[No, Dairine. You may not have a lightsaber.]

What? It's not like it would be out of character! You already know that I get a real one later on and fight zombies with it. Different zombies, admittedly, and the lightsword probably wouldn't work as well on this guy... but the point still stands that it would be really cool. Plus I already have my Jedi robe costume at the castle, so what difference would it make? What do you have against lightsabers anyway?

[Absolutely nothing...unless you have one, Miss Little Ball of Rage and Aggression.]

Oh, come on! Are you still going on about that "let's beat up Darth Vader" goal I once had? I was eleven. Imagining yourself triumphantly beating the villain in your favorite story is what eleven year olds do! True, most don't go running off to see if they can make that dream a reality, but hey, it worked out in the end. I might not have found the villain I was expecting, but I beat It anyway. I've calmed down about Vader, really. It's not like I could find him now anyway.

...Could I?

So, it's a weapon from a story? What's it like?

No, I haven't! It sounds amazing... I'm a little jealous of whoever got to wield one.

Oh man, fighting zombies would be so much easier if we had lightsabers.

It definitely beats cricket bats.

I think most zombies would be pretty well taken down by one. Maybe one that wouldn't but he's a... special case.

A bloater? Not heard of those. Is it like one of the ones that goes underwater? Those looked kind of swollen and it was pretty horrible.

[All the more reason to be glad they had their own water supply.]

Oh, no. No, he's uh... something else entirely. He's kind of, well, immortal. Somehow.

Oh, that's not good. If it's anything like the zombies where I'm from, then they're infectious and just... awful. Noticed anyone coughing recently?

I think he just can't die. I don't understand the science but I know he was researching cell regeneration before the apocalypse. And after it.

[He can't help the grimace at that. Even sniffles get people worried these days.]

I hope so. You don't want an outbreak. Especially not in an enclosed space.

Yeah? Never had them in my world. I mean, they didn't exist except in movies. But neither did zombies and look how that turned out.

That... sounds kind of cool actually. We've got mad scientists and really heroic runners who help to save the world.

Fashionably late?

Looking for trouble, are you? Find it you will.

[People, especially younglings who look for adventure and excitement make Yoda grumbly, and grumble he does.]

Better ways to defeat your foe, there are, if defeat is your aim.

No. Like people who run. The Runners. They go outside the walls to collect supplies and lead zombies away from us. They're really brave.

They're vital to our survival.

Um... a few months? Maybe a year. A lot of the days just sort of blur together after a while.
