OC love

Christ, when was the last time you even gave a damn? I've been sittin' around for two stinkin' years now, waitin' for you to pull your shit together so I can have another crack at this.

Either I ain't good enough for you anymore or you ain't good enough for me. I'm leanin' toward the second one to be honest. No offense, but I don't 'zactly like bein' neglected and shit.

Done with that, you hear!

[Have an older looking Sam than the one in the icon -- this one looks world-weary, in his mid-forties, with one sleeve rolled up out of habit to display some kind of stylized panda near the wrist. He casts a nod of acknowledgement Luca's way.]

I don't know about yours, but I find that telling mine off doesn't tend to get the best results. Still, heard through the grapevine that you're new out of the vault... and you've got to start somewhere, huh?

You want the tour? I don't make the rounds often; don't feel the need to leap head first into trouble like some of the other brats I share space with... but I can point you in the right direction if you need to get your feet under you.

Not going to judge -- I'm the sort who needs sense shaken into him on a regular basis, too.

Alright, let's see what we can do for you here. I'm going to assume that you're a pretty sensible man, so I'll skip over the basics. Whether you want to present yourself in prose or action-speak is your prerogative. ...By the way, I'm Sam, but most people I interact with call me Panda; if you happen to run into anyone that looks like me [and let's be meta here, out of this account] take a quick look at his wrist. We're... sort of stuck together for the duration.

You've got options depending on what your mun has time and love for. Memes are chancy, and take a lot of time and frustration before you find anyone worth giving a damn about -- I'm talking about people like us, but I'm also talking about muns; a lot of them are flighty. Treat them like puppies, they're going to do their business on your rug once in a while even if they really like you, and that's fine. You've just got to gently pick them up and plop them down where the proper boundaries are. Some of them are just going to run away, and that's fine too. You can't get invested in a story with memes until you've had a few opportunities to get to know another character. ...And you'd be surprised at which characters stick, too. [He gives a quiet grin.]

Anyways, memes: [he pulls up a strange little fourth wall-breaking device, sets it on a handy table because why not?] this is the sort that people like you and me get any play in, believe it or not. You can toss a "text" [and here he's actually finger-quoting, because for him, memes and their rules are kind of silly curiosities when he's aware of them at all] up in a post and wait for someone to reply. You can go on a spree of tags with people who are interesting. Some muns kick off, dive right in, some do a background check on the character they're about to tag. Up to you and whether you want to go in blind... but I've found that you usually have success with other original characters. People who've got information in their journals tend to be an alright bet, but don't be afraid to hit someone that you're not sure about. Relevancy to what you used, to know doesn't count for as much here.

These sort and these sort aren't bad either. Introductions can be a little difficult... or at least I tend to have trouble breaking the ice. [Luca doesn't much look like he will, honestly. If anything, he might have trouble with the shy sorts attempting not to quail before a big, gruff, blonde man... but there aren't a lot of those around here.] It sets up a precedent. You like what you see, you prod your mun to contact this other person's mun and see if you can't find something else to do together, weirder or not, saner or not. Sometimes muns have dark senses of humour. It can really be a crapshoot.

[He settles his cane off of his lap and crosses his good leg over the other, stepping down from his soap-box and taking a peek to make sure that Luca's eyes aren't glazing over. If they are, he'll back down, if he's grasping all of this, Sam's got more. He always did drone in lectures, after all.]

Sounds like you've got quite the juggling act on your hands, then. They need to write a book. Let's see: "Brainbeasts Living It Up, Muns On Lockdown: A Guide to Making A Life For Yourself Amidst Homebody Conditions."

Needy, crazy people that you don't rely on in order to exist, though, I think you're right. That's different. [He gives a small, sort of bitter laugh.] Some of them are genuinely bonkers, they don't even have to try.

This is going to be a weird jump to make, but you want to head over somewhere less meta for a drink? I kind of like stretching my fourth-wall breaking skills a little but this community tends to make me over-introverted... better to go about actually living than complaining about it. [Nobody would know it but that's a kind of huge revelation that he's been working on, IC. :U]

A little out of the way, but I sort of like it better that way. No contention with the hotshots at the top of the meme pile.
