Whoa! What are you doing?! I'm not even meant to be here. This is going to cause a lot of problems. You know that? I mean you're going to make people worry and I don't want... Right, calm down. That's going to be hard to do! What am I going to do? At least tell me that if nothing else. Don't leave me in the dark here.

[Alec isn't sure how Clary will react to him after everything he's done. He's still scared that she'll tell the Clave that he's gay but he feels guilty for what he said to her before.]

Sometimes mundanes - our mundanes - aren't certain what to do with us. Patience might be what's best until things are decided.

I'm so glad you prefer prose XD

For a moment, he goes still, not expecting this reaction. He'd thought that she'd be more likely to punch him than this. Then, he relaxes and returns the hug. "What does your mundane have planned for you or is not deciding the problem?"

Eventually, he'll think of a way to apologize and explain why he has to keep his secrets. Until then... Jace loves her so he will do whatever he can to protect Clary. Even if he's not sure how to protect her from her mundane. "I've never understood why they do that to us. We should be part of the decisions they make."

"There's degrees of evil, Clary." It's something he learned as a child and from what his mundane has read about Alec's future, he doubts that their mundanes could be worse than a certain author. "Sometimes we can reason with our mundanes so that we aren't thrown into the worst of those places."
