You know, after being thrown into the national Bee and coming out alright, I thought nothing would surprise me. And then you came along. I have no idea why you're so excited, but I've gotta say, it's kind of scaring me.

At least you don't dress like Khan or Uzi. I seriously couldn't tell you where they shop, but if I ever find out, remind me to never tell you.

[Webster sighs, long and drawn out before cracking open a book, trying to ignore the buzz around him.] And my diction isn't tottery, just so you know. It's neoteric.

[Don't make him say it again or else he'll spell it and beat you with the resounding letters.]

[He smiles just a little.] It's a nicer way of saying I'm a newbie. [Tottery isn't a very nice word, thank you.]

Thanks! I was a little worried there for a little bit. Whew, thankfully I was wrong.

Pretty much. I got...scouted, I guess. If you can call running into a guy while reading and being tricked into participating in an illegal street-bee scouting, then yeah, rookie.

Though I've been spelling all my life, i've just never participated.

[Zack's concern is a little refreshing though. Most everyone he's met has been a little pushy and rude. Reminisce of the Immortal.]

[He puts his hands on his hips and nods.]

I'm Zack. Nice to meet you.

[He smiles and offers his hand. He's not much for the pushy types. Bullies are taken care of real fast if he's around to see it.]

Say, maybe you can help me a little if I'm stuck on a word I don't know. In return, I can do all the heavy stuff. How does that sound?

[There is some nervous laughing.] I've still got a lot to learn. You've got to be quick to get an advantage over your opponents though, not just on your feet but your head too.

[The few matches he has participated in, well. He had to think fast and hard, but it always paid off.] Webster, nice to meet you too!

[The hand is immediately shaken, enjoying a little normalcy after his first few weeks of high school. A lot for a kid to take really.] I think I can agree to that. Words are bond, so don't you forget it.

Of course not! Where I'm from, that kind of promise isn't forgotten. It's like you said, a man's word is his bond. That's the way it is.

[Normalcy is rare for him too and he always welcomes it. He keeps his smile and nods, releasing his hand.]

So, what brings you here to this not-so-normal place? Well, besides the mun thing anyway.

Well I would hope so. [If he got pulled into the Bee's because he had to keep his word on a slip up, he expects everyone else to mean what they say too. Though he supposes he had earned some friends from it. There was an upside to it.]

And...I suppose It's because she's been waiting a while for something like this. Gotta say, the other man in this space is kind of getting on my nerves. He's talking about similarities between me and his friends but...he's kind of enduring. So I figure the sword of trepidation might be a little much. Maybe just a loquacious back hand or something.

[He's scratching the back of his head at the strange word that just popped out at him. He drops his hand and returns to his old self instantly.]

Maybe he's just trying to help in his own way. Don't be too hard on him.

And maybe, it's just obnoxious when I've already got so much else to think about. And what's more annoying is that he has some weird similarities. But man, if I wore that much orange and Pink I wouldn't know what to do with myself. [Like the bright ass yellow isn't as bad, Webster.]

But he's nice at least.

[To Zack, that's just a beacon for bullets. No thanks. He'll stick to his dark colors.]

He likes patterns too. [Overlapping them.] I'll just...stick to my tie and call it good.

[They don't do spelling bees in the dark so he can't really worry about being too bright. Just so long as his words can defend.]

[He thumbs his nose with a bit of pride in his smile that he feels accomplished.]

You wear a tie? Huh, I never did. I'm a flannel and denim guy myself. It works for you. You're...not a Turk in training are you? They wear ties.

Unless they wear bright yellow striped ties, I don't think so. [Webster likes to wear button downs tucked into his jeans. He thinks it makes him look suave.]

I figure if going to high school is the start of the rest of your life, you should dress up for it like you would for work.

High school?

[He places his hands behind his head and takes a few steps.]

I've never heard of it. I've been in SOLDIER so...is it anything like training and going on missions?

Uh...not exactly. Its purely academic, any physical stuff is option or you can get out of. [He doesnt mind PE so much though. If he actually gets picked its kind of fun.]

Dont you have any kind of school where your from? Private tutoring even?

[zackthepuppy]

Sort of. It's more or less like a school since ShinRa runs it. They only teach the basics like reading, writing, math and things that pertain to us as SOLDIERs. Science is only the basics like what makes the sky blue and weather. Mostly practical stuff really.

I fell asleep when they were talking about materia though.

[And this is why Sephiroth chewed him out (sort of) when he asked about how materia was formed.]

[Falling asleep while learning. For shame, Zack.] That is pretty basic...

But I suppose if you dont need a lot of booksmarts. You can do some extracurricular learning though! Impress everyone with the muscles and the knowledge, huh?
