That boy I met's a real jerk, but I'm not gonna make my wolf attack him or anything. I'm trying to prove a point. I can be useful! I can help us escape that place! It's not just chalk, I can use pencil and ink and paint, and it doesn't even have to be animals, maybe I can animate a door...

[Wren's frustration seems to drain as she sighs] But you know that already. I just don't like being written off like that. Even in a place where no one seems to mind, being a mutant still sucks.

Yeh a 'utant huh? All of Lockheed's bestest 'riends are 'hose. So don't get yeh'self down, cause Kitty used to too!

[There's a dragon talking to her. A little one. This is definitely new, but neat enough that Wren goes from kind of staring to smiling within a few seconds]

Yeah. My drawings can turn real. [To demonstrate she kneels and quickly sketches out a chocolate cookie with her chalk, and after a moment's concentration picks a 3-dimensional cookie off the floor. It's obviously not a real one, but it sure tastes like it. She takes a small bite before offering the rest]

Nice to meet you, Lockheed.

[A girl who can make food out of drawings? Well you just became Lockheed's best friend. Ok, maybe after Kitty, that buddyness is bone deep. He takes the cookie and whilst it doesn't taste quite the same as a real one it's very close. And yummy.] 'hat's 'wesome! An' nice to meet yeh too! Maybe we can hang out some and stuff.

[She grins at that, and then realizes...Oh] I forgot! I'm Wren. It'd be nice to have another friend. I've only made one so far in the game my mun put me in. [Two, Wren. But she counts Yugi as a full friend because he actually said it. Silly] Well, two.

Glad you liked the cookie! Is Kitty a good friend of yours?

Hey Wren. Heed 'ould be happy to be yeh friend, all 'utants are Lockheed's friends! Cept the nasty ones. And 'ertain other people. [He's looking at you, Emma Frost and Pete Wisdom. In any case he flaps up into the air and perches carefully on her shoulder, a sign of trust.]

Kitty is Heed's bestest friend. She 'aved me from Brood. And Heed 'aved her too.

[Another friend. You have no idea how happy this makes her, Lockheed. Wren startles just a bit when he lands on her shoulder before she grins broadly and reaches up a hand to stroke his head]

Thank you. What's the Brood? [Lucky her, she's never heard of them in her universe]

Wren. It has been a while.

...how are you?

Robin! It has. [She gives him a faint smile, shrugging] Okay, I guess? I got sent off to school. [She rolls her eyes a little. More like kidnapped]

How've you been?

My mun's been in extraordinarily poor condition, so she's only just gotten back to RP. I haven't done much.

School?

We're sorry to hear that. Hope she feels better soon. [She'd draw her something, but it might get a little weird. Godzilla rampaging through a circus, maybe]

Uh huh. It's on an island, and there's a bunch of people there - none willing, looks like - except there aren't any classes, just a weird lady that comes on the intercom sometimes to chastise us. [Wren grins a bit suddenly] I've made a couple friends. Neither of them have a problem with my power. Kind of a good thing too, I met the first guy after my Godzilla knocked some holes in the walls.

[The grin fades, to be replaced with a bit of a guilty expression] I sort of lost my temper after I woke up and found myself there. I thought my aunt had done it, 'cause I finally told her.

...you told her. [That takes priority.] What happened? Are you alright?

[His concern makes her pause for a second, then she nods] I just...thought she should know. It was pretty easy keeping it from her with the hours she works, but I felt bad...

[Wren glances away from Robin for a moment] It was...she was surprised. And kind of upset. Because it's a big deal, you know. But she seemed okay with it. And really, the last thing I remember was walking out the door with my backpack, and then I woke up in a nurse's office.

That is significantly better than how it could have gone. I'm relieved. As soon as Christopher gets back up and running in this headspace, I'm sure he will be, too.

If only we could just remove our mutations. Life would be so much easier.

She wouldn't have hurt me, I'm all she has left, what with mom and dad being-

[Nope. Not going there. Her birthday was only a few weeks ago, that's still too close]

[The mention of Christopher distracts her enough to make her smile, a silly little grin that fades a bit with Robin's next words] ...I kind of like mine. I might be able to help people with them. Protect my friends. [She knows he doesn't feel the same about his, but...]

But if you didn't have them, you wouldn't have to fear normal humans. You would be so much safer.

I guess that's true. But I can do good with them! A lot of us can. You could.

[She almost flinches a bit there, expecting a blow up, then meets his eyes] Maybe someday, Robin.

[He looks at her as if she's insane, visibly enraged for a moment as his face contorts into a frown. But as the silence stretches on and Robin thinks, he shifts uneasily and decides to simply state,] It would be too risky.

[He didn't yell, there's a plus. Wren just waits for him to speak, and when she does her voice is soft] Maybe. But if you practiced...I've been practicing with mine, trying to figure things out. I know my powers aren't anywhere near as dangerous as yours, and they might never be, but...

[She trails off, then] You could at least think about it.

My mun wants to eventually put me in a game. Make me learn control. But between her current state of injury and the volatility of what you're proposing, that's a very bad idea.

Once she feels better, you could always try out where I am. Plenty of room to practice outside without hurting anybody. The building even fixes itself. [She was really surprised to find the holes from her rampage gone the next day]

If someone stumbled onto me... there is always a risk, Wren.

I could draw you a wall. [Stubborn kid. But she raises her hands a moment later to hold off any objections]

I'll let it drop. Want an apple or something? Anything you want. [Wren gets a mischievous grin] Or a pink squirrel?

A chai tea latte would be wonderful. Thank you, Wren.

[She scrunches up her nose a bit at that request. She shouldn't have said 'anything'. Liquids...she still isn't sure she can do those. After all, her drawings were ruined by them, but maybe...

...Maybe only because she thought they should be. Huh]

Hmm...lemme see if I can. [Wren kneels down, tugging a piece of chalk free before beginning to draw, biting her lip. If this worked she'd be impressed]

I was kidnapped by a bug monster, did I mention? [A little random there. She finishes and sits back, willing the drawing to be what she wanted - Chai tea latte. A few moments pass before she picks up the mug and stares at the chalky liquid inside]

...

[Yeah, just getting up and passing this over to Robin now. Good luck with that]

No, you forgot to mention that. And I'm not mentioning it to Christopher because he'll go into a blind panic at the thought.

[He braves a sip of his latte, and just looks confused. Sip. Sip.]

This is... it's like if someone took the taste of a Chai tea latte and made it into something gritty and lukewarm. [He stares at it.] It's not bad, I'm just unsure as to how edible it is.
