Well, this is a momentous occasion. The past has come to pay me a little visit, and here I thought I was going to remain forgotten. Like the rest of your little toys. But don't worry about me, I won't hold a grudge over that. After all, it's nothing more than others far worse than you have done.
Although -- I wonder if the rest of your collection feel that way. Shall we ask them? I wonder what they would do if they knew you were eventually going to cast them all aside and forget about them. Don't you think they deserve to know the truth about playing your games? I do.
Oh, yes. It's nice to see you again.

Oh, yes. It's nice to see you again.

I'm pretty sure what your brother sees in me is none of your business. Besides, I'd count your blessings if I were you. There can't be many mundanes out there that would have the patience, let alone headspace, to put up with you your ego.
no subject
Oh, but it's a family decision. I'm pretty certain that makes it everybody's business.
[And that amuses him on principle. He's not the one to be worried about.]
As for your concern, I'm flattered that my brother's beloved mortal would worry about my well-being, but I think that you'll find there are plenty of people willing to play host to me. Despite your... discerning tastes, to many out there, a god is still a god.
no subject
Yeah....I was kind of hoping you'd stay forgotten, actually.
no subject
Really. Was it something I said?
oof, *you and your
A god that can be easily forgotten, apparently. I wonder how long it'll be until it happens again. One week? Two?
No worries!
And he's not concerned in the least.]
Oh, at least three. It's funny you should mention time. Then again, when you've so little of something, it does become more pressing, doesn't it?
no subject
Close. Try thinking on a bigger scale. [like, global.]

no subject
You haven't begun to see the extent of my scale. Would you like to try again? You seemed to enjoy it so much the last time.
no subject
I'm just having a bit of fun.
no subject
Yes, that is always your excuse. What you call fun, others call chaos.
no subject
Maybe they just lack a sense of humor.
no subject
Would you prefer to be sent somewhere, to play some nonsensical game?
no subject
What do you want, Loki?
no subject
I admit I am new to the nature of these strange relationships that hold us captive. But from what I have seen, your attempt at riling up the others your host keeps you with will not get you very far.
no subject
I think you know what I want.
no subject
Although I'm sure it is easy for Odin's son to forget what it is like to lack that. All of those victories must be so distracting for you.
no subject
Oh, please. We both know that remembrance died when he ordered as much. What difference would my wishes make? But I do not wish to incite anyone. I'm merely sharing the truth of our condition with those unfortunate enough to be held back by these so-called captors.
And what could be wrong with the truth?

And he [she repeats his emphasis in a way that borders on mockery] may order whatever he likes, but the limits to my king's power are created where it comes to how I would attend my own children. I had thought I made it already very clear to you, I would continue feeling the same despite everything. Why should your own wishes in that regard make any more of a difference than your father's?
no subject
You have to know you won't get it. They'll stop you.
[there's a whole world, probably more than just one, that'll see it fit to put a stop to this madness.]
no subject
[He knows Loki is trying to provoke him. He's not going to let him succeed (much).]
Angering the one who makes the decisions is not the wisest course of action here. There are worse options available to them.
no subject
That is the sound of your life ticking away. Now, how would someone with so little life in them know what it's like to lose something that far above them?
no subject
I happen to be a firm believer in quality over quantity. I'd rther spent one mortal lifetime doing something good and useful than spend centuries destroying everything I touch.
[ pointed look. ]
no subject
[That builds up speed and intensity as he says it. As if the anger contained behind those words is trying to rush out in that one simple declaration.]
That he has made clear, hasn't he? To Odin, there is only one son, and he is all that shall ever matter. You... mother. When your son was abandoned in a forgotten cell, did you spare him a thought? My wish was only to be what I was meant to be, and for that I was punished. Now I know better.
They should thank me. I'm bringing the truth to them.
no subject
[He is amused by that suggestion. There's no real threat there, despite what Bruce might think. At least none that Loki is going to acknowledge.]
They will try, and they will fail. Just like animals, their natures will eventually get the better of them.
[And, in a softer voice:] We all are subject to that, aren't we?
no subject
Unless you have lost to them. Then we are all in trouble.
no subject
Well, that's your decision.
no subject
And you know well I gave you far more than a thought. You were never 'abandoned', for it was through my intercession your place in that cell existed in the first place. A poor act at a prize, I agree, but a far better treat than the gallows. What reason do you give to my visiting you so often, if I cared nothing?
Oh, Loki. You were punished for reasons far beyond simply trying to make your own way. You are too clever not to know as much; you only refuse to let yourself see.
no subject
Yeah, I guess we are. Some of us have big green things and others have [insert a vague hand gesture here] crazy cats. Bags of crazy cats.
[he's never liked cats anyway.]

Was that in your dreams? Delusions certainly are catching, aren't they? Or the rest of Asgard would have us believe as much. I know that for me the only delusion was the lie that I had lived before my "father" decided to put his thrown between us.
I forgive you. Only you. But do not lie.
It's unbecoming on you.
no subject
[How cute. Is that an insult? He's pretty sure that is mild at best.]
Does it pain you to know that when they look at you they see that thing? It must be trying. Dancing around, trying to make them believe that you're actually like them. They seem convinced.
But I wonder how true that really is?

But no; I will not lie to you. I did that once even knowing all the while it was a mistake. And the cost for that has been unspeakably vast.
