Voice Test.
Well that's a promising way to start. [Not.]
Although, since it looks like we're going to be working together I think it'd be pretty important for you to communicate with people privately first.
I see how social networking can be useful. I understand that. Just...think things through. There's a time to charge in guns blazing, and there's a time to sit back and consolidate your power before acting.
Watch. Wait. Plan. Then go back, approach, and then grab them by the throat and squeeze until their life is gone before robbing them blind.
It's all right. It took my team a long time to learn that too. [fatherly smile.] In the end though, the majority of them did me proud.
[All except you Lindsey. All the disappoint.]

They brought you back.
no subject
Their will is absolute son. I think the thing I regret most is not telling you that. Not...showing you that better.
no subject
Oh, you've shown me plenty, Holland. I couldn't have gone so far without you.
no subject
[He folds his hands.] Not in the direction I was hoping for.
I am sorry about that.
no subject
Thanks to you, I know what I want to do in life now. [ Taking down Angel. ]

[despite all of that Holland smiles. It is...an evil smile.]
That's the kind of killer instinct I expected.
no subject
Was I all that you expected, Holland?
no subject
I had hopes.
But, if life has taught me anything it's get used to disappointment and Lindsey as much as I'm proud of you...I'm also very disappointed.
no subject
You should be very proud of me.

[sigh.] You'll find the after life division is a little more cutthroat then you're used to however.

[He smiled the smile of the righteous, the righteous who had fallen.] You're too young to remember the sixties and the seventies, but when I was growing up my best friend...well my best friend was different.
He was picked on. Teased. Hurt. I hated it. Couldn't stand it. His parents were kind and when I grew up I wanted to help him because I believed he should have the rights that other people did.
He became...inspirational Lindsey. He was a beacon. I was astounded and I took all of my lessons from him until the day he died when I realized...it never changes.
All of this. It never changes. We're bastards. We're evil, rotten, horrible creatures and it's better to accept that and move on with living since each man has a right to live and in those moments of evil ... well. They make the good moments sweeter.
[He waits. Like a snake. like a predator, waiting to deliver that final punch.]

He smiled still but his eyes were confused and wariness crept in like a cold draft into his blues. ]
Why are you telling me this, Holland?
no subject
When I arranged, to have the man who killed him killed and first came to the attention of Wolfram and Hart I was full of ... ideals and questions. Questions about why it had happened, what was wrong with us. The answer was simple.
I was a monster. So are you. A twisted, vicious little monster.
Monsters belong in hell.
Your place. Your rightful place. [He moved his neck, so that Darla's bite mark was exposed] is here with us.
no subject
He knew he was going to hell, but it wasn't the same as having someone come up from Hell, someone he knew and had once respected, tell him to his face that he was going to be dragged down there, that he belonged down there.
He lost his smile. ]
I didn't say I wasn't going. [ He retorted stiffly. He most certainly will try to find a way out though. ] I just said I wasn't going soon.
no subject
...I'm saying this because I think it'd be a better use of your talents.
However, if you're determined to make use of yourself here I understand.
I'm just saying I think you'd be more comfortable with a little leeway. A little more self expression hm?
I mean after all, if one were to make a creative argument, those two vampires killing me, killing your coworkers, killing my wife. If I were to make a creative argument, that could be construed as something you and Lilah participated in.
no subject
Sir, as convincing and persuasive your argument is, you don't really think I would wish to speed up my process towards the post mortem department, do you?
[ Lindsey scoffed and shook his head slowly in a regrettable fashion. He had grown, became jaded, Holland couldn't lead him around so easily anymore. ]
It isn't about the salary out the benefits... I've seen how well those benefits work out. [ He wanted his amputated hand. ]
You're missing the most important thing, Holland, I lack a goal.
no subject
...What is your goal Lindsey? Tell me.
no subject
Guess you can say I have unfinished business up here. [ Angel. ]
no subject
[He knows Lindsey. Can't you tell?]
no subject
I like to wrap things up neat and tidy. I believe you taught me that.
