Oh, there are plenty of opportunities that don't have a focus on sex. Many adventures to be had, in fact.

I suppose it wouldn't be fair to tell you that I don't think I'll grow up to be your Armand, Vlad, but then again I might. I think Marguerite means to keep me locked up at Blakeney Manor forever, and Madame will likely let her.

Ah, don't be so sure of that. People change, and so do circumstances, and unfortunately adventure has a tendency to beat down one's door and carry one off now and again with no warning at all.

I like some kinds of adventures.

It is too bad that we cannot always choose what adventures come to us. But whatever the case, we can often find ways to not only cope, but make it somewhat enjoyable.

True enough. As I understand it you and your compatriots will suffer hardship, for your country will go through a period of severe unrest.

[He holds up a placating hand.] Mostly headaches and stress from my ravings. Even when I was at my worst I could not bring myself to do you actual harm. I drove myself a little mad at times avoiding it.

Uh...just my pride. That was silly of me. [She squints and blinks rapidly.] Good thing I don't have a bigger nose.

Yeah, no problem, I just get used to weird stuff happening.

Well, there's a smallish game my mun's thinking of tossing me at. It's basically survival, adventure and world building.

He approaches close and widens his eyes. "Where's that, miss?"

Well, I don't know what you'd think of it, but it's basically a whole different world, with a bunch of us trying to survive and build a society while dealing with hostile natives and the occasional monster.

I wouldn't like monsters, but I don't mind help other people.

No worries there. I can handle any monsters that come along.

Good. I'll do what I can to help you, though. I'd hate to see a lady do all my fighting for me. [Unless it's Margot, because he thinks she hangs the moon.]

[She shoots him a disgusted look.] Man, sometimes I forget how backwards men from the past can be. I am not "a lady"; I am a woman, a witch and probably the most powerful mutant on my world. It's part of my job to protect people, even if they look down on me for my sex.

You could still be lady and all those things besides. Defend who you feel you must or who needs it, but Margot would kick me into next week if I let you get into a tussle for me. She thinks it's perfectly fine for her to defend me, because she's my older sister, but she would take offense at me not you, if I didn't at least help you. Or try anyway.

I don't look down on anyone for their sex, but I do look out for my backside.

A coach and a team of four horses. P-Someone's been teaching me how to drive them. With the four sets of reins, the whip and the brakes, it's very complex.
