I'm sure you know the main things I really want to ask right now, but I'm also just as sure you have no desire to answer them.

You don't have to agree with it, and I know you won't approve of it, being who you are, but it wasn't just about following orders for me. It wasn't brainwashing or conditioning. There may have been an oath but that's besides the point.

I was fighting for what I believed in.

We were going to make a better world, Phil. A world without dissension. A world without war.

A world without choice. A world where everyone steps in line because to do otherwise would mean destruction.

How the hell is that better?

Keeping the peace one problem at a time was never going to work, Phil. It never stops. Don't you ever get tired of it all? Don't you ever just want your work to mean something? For it to actually have an effect on the world at large? I was doing that. I was going to be a part of an end to constant fear of annihilation and destruction. There was a price to pay, but there always is. This would have meant peace. Everlasting.

My work has meant something. It's meant something for everyone whose live has been positively affected by going after that one problem at a time. Because it's the difference between an actual positive change and the cardboard facade that you and your compatriots were selling.

You're too much like your idol to see the truth. It's a pity. I had really liked you. But how long do you think your team will last now that SHIELD has failed? All those dangers that we were going to eliminate from the world for the greater good? All still out there, all more than ready to take down the final few good men left out there.

Then please, explain to me how some of those so-called dangers you were planning on eliminating were good men.

Because there is a monumental difference between being dangerous and being unwilling to toe the line that was drawn by Hydra.

I would never deny that you're a good man, Coulson. But you're also dangerous. And anyone left to oppose Hydra would have been a threat to the entire world and the peace we were going to create. I know you can see logic, so don't pretend that you can't here just because you don't like it.
