Sounds like the fellow who fancies himself my new old man, though I don't intend to make a career out of it, and he certainly wouldn't like it if I did. It's just... well, my last bit of unfinished business.

I hope your new old man isn't anything like the guy I know. He drove his whole family away, the ones who didn't get killed. I only talk to him because I am using his name and legacy, and I have enough respect for it to get his approval before using it.

It seems they're not too much alike, for better or for worse. Mine's more concerned with "helping" poor unfortunate souls like me and playing house. The man's practically a saint--which means there's definitely something he's trying to atone for, even if I don't know what it is yet. I imagine the truth will out eventually.

Mine's no saint. Also not atoning for anything; once you know who he is, finding out what made him Batman is simple. He did what he did so that no other children would have to go through what he did. That's why I wear the mantle, too, which is probably why he allows it.

Well, I can't look askance at his motives, I suppose. Or yours. I'm not sure if it's something I'd do, but it's... noble of you. I'm a little envious, really. I'm starting to realize that I've never really have a purpose like that.
