I think it's great, really, I do, but maybe you should do a little canon reviewing before you think about throwing me into a game, eh? I've got an idea! I'll find us a nice waterfall to sit under! I think the sounds of a city can be as relaxing as the sounds of a waterfall, but perhaps I'm a little biased.

Oh, there's no doubt about that! I guess I'm just a little old fashioned when it comes to training. I just love the sound and feel of the icy water rushing down over my head!

I can't speak for your training, but I imagine your mun isn't quite prepared.

A pleasure to meet you by the way Maya. We both actually work with spirits, but my training is far less traditional.

That's what I'm here for, though! She'll be okay. Maybe I'll even start her out with a nice bucket of ice down the back of her shirt!

[ She takes his hand and shakes it, beaming. ]

[He would tell her that wasn't a good idea, but if he kept telling her that each time she said something that wasn't normal for most people he thinks he would be here all day.]

It's mostly a series of trial and error. My job isn't to channel spirits, but instead to convince them to move on.

[mystic_maya]

[ Maya's eyes light up -- she's quick to excite, but anything about spirits and ghosts? That just makes her day. ]

It's not exactly glamorous work.

Sure it is! Helping the spirits cross over... some day, I hope I'm good enough to do that, too!

Well learning from your friend Phoenix Wright will help in that. Getting information and confronting people are a big part of it. The magic aspect of it is easy.

That's what Mia said, too! But Mia is -- was -- good at everything.

Considering what we know about spirits I think "is" still applies.

Well when she helps you when you're in dire need I don't think you could really talk about her in the past tense.

No, but some people don't exactly believe me, so I guess it's become kind of habit.

I suppose that makes sense. My job after all was to help spirits move on primarily so the public didn't find out about them.

That can't be an easy job...

No, but I would say the same thing for channeling spirits. I have seen some people suddenly find themselves possessed.

I was even possessed myself.

Yes, I've seen that, too... you were?! How did you manage to break yourself free?

Not really. It ended because the malevolent spirit behind the action did what it wanted.

Wh-what do you mean?

[ The look on her face says she kinda guesses, but... well, confirmation is good. ]

It used my body to kill someone. That was my introduction to spirits.

That's terrible... I'm sorry.

It's alright. It is far from your fault and if it did not possess me it would of just used someone else.

Even still... to have such a thing happen to you, that's not a good way to be introduced to spirits at all!

No, but I am quite aware not all spirits are like that. In fact the one that possessed me was a very specific sort of spirit.

[mystic_maya]

Oh?

It's a type of spirit called a Wraith, a spirit whose soul has been placed inside of an object and is provided powers by its master, a supernatural entity called a liche.

[mystic_maya]

I see... I have heard of those, but have never dealt with them.

[gentleman_thief]

[He smiled and patted her back.]

Well we can just hope you don't run into either of those creatures. You give people peace of mind, that is good work on its own.

Let people like me deal with the more troubled cases.

This is magenta, it's a stone that reacts in the presence of certain magics. For example spirits.

but what does that train you to do
it just sounds like it would get you wet and be unpleasant
even assuming you are not using a waterfall big enough to drown in

It helps with concentration and discipline! Something that every spirit medium needs. Muns, too, for that matter!

As for drowning, you just have to find one that isn't too big or powerful. Or you can just use a fire hose! I've found that pretty effective, too.
