Just a little bit of TEST driving, Chell no worries
[[All right Chell, got a journal all made up for you and a community in our apping crosshairs! Let’s go for a test spin! Go on, say something about your situation! What do you have to say to your mun, huh?]]
...
[[... Wow, should have seen that coming.]]
[Chell shrugs. It’s not her fault her mun picked a stubbornly quiet character.]
[[Oh, come on, Chell, you’ve got a mun looking to put you in another inescapable building! Sure, you’ll be able to go outdoors, and you won’t be alone and isolated, and it won’t be an almighty supercomputer taunting you, but you still can’t escape! What do you think about that?]]
...
[[Oh, come on, play along! ... Please?]]
[... Fine. Chell frowns.]
“... How did you expect this to go, ‘mun’? That app you’re writing makes it pretty clear how cooperative I am.”
[She crosses her arms.]
“But if you’re sure people will enjoy threading with comments full of ellipses, I apparently can’t stop you.”
[Nothing she’s not used to.]

[Labcoat. A scientist who recognizes her, it's not a huge leap to peg him as an Aperture employee.
A full time one.][She narrows her eyes. He may look haggard, like he's been living in the walls like a rodent (he probably has -- hm), but she still trusted him about as far as she could throw him. With her bare hands, that is.]
[She lowers her head. That could be a nod, or she could just be glaring at him.]
no subject
Have you...escaped yet? Is it over?
no subject
Good.]
...
[Her eyes narrow. Why does this man deserve an answer? As far as Chell is concerned, he put Her together and put her online. Among Aperture's other scientific ills.]
[... Then again. He's a human. And it looks like he was trapped too. That was enough to change anybody. Yes, even Chell
(though not by much).]"... Sort of."

Incomplete, like a puzzle without all the pieces. A picture with a hole in it, a screen with a broken LED. I can fix screens. But I couldn't fix myself. Just patching over the holes.
[babbling, eyes unfocused, anxious]
no subject
This guy lost it, which is understandable, she supposes.
... She sighs. Maybe she ought to give him a little more.]
"I escaped. She's still alive."
[So it wasn't over. But she escaped, unless the mun gets her way.]
no subject
[that stops him cold as he considers what that means for him]
I...I'm glad. For you! Not her! Never her.
[gloomy face, haunted eyes]
I was out, with sun and sky and ground but...but I couldn't...
[hangs head]
I failed in the long run. So much running. Ran the maze, found the map, the key. But she moved the cheese and I can't...couldn't...cope
[grabs his hair in frustration]
This isn't how it was supposed to be! The pills wore off! The pieces came apart again!
no subject
[But he did escape, going by his rambling. Then why did it sound like he was still trapped?]
[Something dangerously close to sympathetic crosses her face.]

"... You couldn't leave me."
[So he did know her. How?]
[She calculates. Her memory is fuzzy after destroying GLaDOS the first time. She was taken by a... robot. And she woke up in a stasis room.]
[She doubts this guy would have had interest in bringing her back into the facility. It sounds like he went back for her. But why, and how?]
no subject
[lost in his own neurosis he's passing back and forth and wringing his hands]
Couldn't shouldn't would not have never did. Forever never flowing sleeping peaceful and safe.

[SLOW CLAP]
I must commend your progress. It will be put next to 'did well enough' on your file.
no subject
[Chell stands her ground, glaring. Did you expect anything else?]
no subject
So. How is it outside? Is it what you expected?
no subject
[Funny you should say that, GLaDOS. It seems Chell is in limbo again: she could be walking out into a golden field, looking at a blue sky, or her mun could decide to yank the rug out from under her longfall boots and have that door open up to a weird multiverse place.
Assuming they even get that far.]
[Chell isn't going to say any of this, of course. But if you're curious, there it is.]
[Chell just stares. They may have parted on... Neutral terms, but as far as she was concerned, she had nothing to say to GLaDOS.]
I'M SORRY THIS IS LATE. finals, man.
being quiet isn't a big deal at all!
i'm late because i just forgot about it THIS BODES WELL
I'd like to think people would get bored of one-sided conversations.
[Real people, not A.I.s. Please let there be a difference.]
no worries yo
problem solved!

I'm Alan?
You like elipses? Then you're going to -love- me.
[well fortunately for you, Alan, you don't look like a computer, doctor, or scientist, and maybe you were being genuine about the ellipses thing, so you don't quite earn the silent treatment.
Yet.]"... Chell."

Nice to meet you.
Guess you're headed where I am. It's not so bad, especially if you like closets that give an infinite amount of anything.
no subject
... 'Closets that give an infinite amount of anything'.
[Yep, repeating that out loud, it sounds kind of stupid. She looks skeptical.]
