[Comfort is something Bucky sorely needs right now, no matter how much he might protest and say that he'll be fine, really, he's got a month or two tops before everything goes to shit. Steve's words help, make him feel a little better despite everything, but it's only a slight comfort when he thinks about what's in store for him.]

I'm not gonna be just fine, you know that. [Seventy years of that? No one gets out of it just fine.] But I'll make it there, fine or not.

[Steve isn't the only stubborn idiot around here.]

[ No, Steve's never been the only stubborn one, but this time he's willing to give Bucky the free pass. Because if ever there was a moment to have it, now would be it.

His lips press into a thin line; he hates feeling so helpless, but knows there's not much he can do. No one can just fix this for Bucky, but Steve'll be damned if he's not going to stand beside him and do whatever he can. ]

You might surprise yourself. [ A pause, heavy, as Steve lays a hand carefully on Bucky's shoulder. ] Whatever happens, you don't have to go through it alone.
